Planted Product Design
I led the ideation and end to end design of an employee climate action platform integrated with a browser extension - Planted Footprint Tracker - for tracking user's digital footprint.

Background
Planted is focusing on helping companies become climate neutral. It offers a combination of planting trees, compensating CO2 trough certified projects and engaging employees to reduce their footprint trough behavioral change.
I took over the product and brand design lead 6 months after the company was founded and found bits and pieces created by freelancers. There were no systems, structures and processes at place. I started by establishing all structures and processes needed for a design department and educated stakeholders on collaboration best practices.
Project
Part of the product offer is an employee first web platform, to introduce climate positive behavioral change within the teams and extend into an CO2 management system for the company. I led the ideation, strategy and planing for the software and designed it end to end including user tests, surveys and planing of GTM and next features
Challenges & Approach
We established a very ambitious vision of what the platforms capabilities and at first designed a complex MVP, which was very difficult for employee adoption. Then we went a step back into research and ideation and came up with a product strategy that would be easy to adopt and would step by step introduce the features we had envisioned.
I wanted to design a fun visual experience that would engage users. Including personal stats and metrics about the own behavior as well as a leaderboard as competitive element should increase retention and motivation while keeping the MVP simple and intuitive.
The next features planned for launch introduced more complexity - roles for users (admin), company CO2 accounting, user groups and so on.
UI Design
I went with a very minimalistic UI design giving the animated illustrations a fullscreen feel. The animations are triggered on user's interaction.
I established the design system and documented it together with the development team using storybook.
