Contentful Web UX/UI

At Contentful I was responsible for the UX/UI design of the website and all related platforms, such as the developer portal. I was working with stakeholders across the company and responsible for all lead generation and growth flows, as well as the entire website to product user experience, reporting to the VP of Demand Generation.

When I joined the company there was no web design system in place, no processes to manage stakeholder requests, the design was not scalable across pages and there was no data driven and user centric approach at place. Web and product designers were operation completely detached from each other, even tho they were creating one user flow.

Besides my hands on design work in redesigning the website in a modular and strategic way so it can serve users and stakeholders needs at scale, I built a design system, created design principles and extended the brand language into a digital medium.

It is hard to summarise the work of nearly 3 years, that included many projects and aspects of my work, I am just showing a few examples. So please don't hesitate to get in touch and ask me questions!

Modular redesign‍

This was a project I kicked off, in order to redesign the entire website in an agile and smooth scalable way. The problem was, that stakeholders communicating trough the website did not understand the need of the consistant design, but also did not have an overview of what they can do with the website. There were no templates they can use because that's not how contentful works. I interviewed stakeholders from all relevant teams and gathered their requirements. Based on that I created project requirements and designed a system of flexible modules including guidelines and use cases.

The project was a huge success and a year later all main pages were already created with this modules. The stakeholder teams were way better aware of what. they can do and what needs a custom solution.

The visual user experience was consistant without being boring.

Extending and maintaining a Design system

A design system is never done, it needs to be revised and extended to ensure scale and the best UI experience. The Web Design System was created in Figma and the code documented in storybook. This way it was easy to share with other design and dev teams as well as freelancers.

Blog redesign

I redesigned the UX and UI of the blog, categorizing content visually (trough layout hierarchy) and structurally and including a tagging system. The blog also has a subtle own identity using the underlined headlines. I also incorporated gated ressources for business impact and following our main goals as a team.
